In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most-streamed song in just the space of six months. This mix of reggaeton and pop music did not just draw attention back to the music genre but also Latin music in general. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish mostly, and four others in 2016. At the peak of Despacito's fame and popularity, 19 songs mostly in Spanish made it to the Top 100. In 2020 there will be 41 tracks in this category. Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito was released in 2017. In the following year, a number of popular musicians began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny for MIA (2018) as well as Madonna has collaborated with Maluma in Medellin. In the year 2020, a handful of reggaeton musicians were unhappy with the genre's direction toward the mainstream. However, a younger generation including Rauw Alejandro, aimed to ensure that reggaeton was evolving. It often blended elements from electronic dance music and other forms.
